Accessories & mounting systems

Modules carry performance warranties measured in decades. What holds them in place, connects them and protects them has to last as long — and that is almost always where premature failures appear.

Corrosion is the first enemy, particularly on the coast. It turns on the quality of alloys and fixings, but above all on galvanic couples: two badly matched metals degrade far faster than the weaker of the two on its own. The second point is cabling. Cable not rated for permanent UV exposure hardens and cracks within a few seasons, and connectors of different makes mated together — mechanically compatible, electrically approximate — cause heating and arcing.

The mounting system is chosen from the actual roof: profiled steel, tile, fibre cement, flat roof or ground mount call for neither the same fixings nor the same waterproofing detail. Add surge protection and earthing, indispensable in a thunderstorm climate.
